Summary Kyungsoo surprises Jongin by actually following through with the sleepover plans. Jongin surprises him with something else.
Note Oh, hey. I actually did end up writing a sequel to this. .____.;;;

Jongin felt he'd done a fair job of hiding both his surprise and his exhilaration when Kyungsoo finally did arrive at his house. Despite Kyungsoo's insistence that he'd cleared it all with his parents, Jongin couldn't help his lingering suspicions that something would come up at the last minute. Like Kyungsoo would forget to vacuum his bedroom and get himself grounded or something. But the first thing Kyungsoo had said to him this morning was how excited he was for tonight. And Jongin had smiled, which always made Kyungsoo's ears go red for some reason.

After that, the night had progressed about on par with what Jongin had expected. Kyungsoo ate almost twice the pizza he did; they argued for no less than ten minutes over whether to rent an action movie or a romantic comedy until Kyungsoo finally compromised with an anime. (It helped that Jongin's fingers circling his wrist rendered him speechless.) Jongin hadn't really cared so much about the content of the movie, though, as he was sort of hoping they would be preoccupied. But again, as predicted, all that pizza caught up with Kyungsoo halfway through the movie and Jongin found himself watching the rest alone, with only Kyungsoo's even, heavy breathing beside him.

Even with the credits now rolling, Jongin doesn't have the heart to wake him up. He likes the way Kyungsoo's dark lashes rest on his white cheeks, the cute way his face is nestled into his pillow, arms gripping it like a teddy bear. But he also isn't quite ready to give up his solitude because the whole scene just reminds him of something—someone—else.

Sehun has always slept the same way, clinging to the first soft thing his arms find. Jongin had found this out first-hand two summers ago, during one of their many sleepovers. Even at thirteen they were still sharing a bed, an old habit dying hard from when the sleepovers started, when they were in primary school together. (Maybe it was because they only had the summers anymore, after Sehun's family had moved too far away to visit except during the holidays. They had made their parents promise they would have every summer together, and they hadn't missed one in six years.)

Jongin had awoken in the middle of the night, swelteringly hot and wanting a drink. He found himself trapped, as usual, with Sehun's warm breath on his neck—and, unexpectedly, a hard-on. Flustered as he was, he managed to disentangle himself without waking Sehun and headed immediately for the bathroom for some water, but also to wait out his ill-timed awkwardness.

When he'd returned, he found Sehun sitting up in bed. "S-sorry," he'd stuttered, his tongue still heavy with sleep, his lisp more pronounced than usual because of it. Jongin had always found it cute.

"Don't worry about it. I just got too hot." Sehun looked oddly relieved and adjusted the pillow in his lap, bringing Jongin's attention to it for the first time. They shared a look of sudden realisation, Sehun's distinctly more horrified. After a heartbeat and a small smirk, Jongin had joined Sehun on the bed. He'd lain a hand over his just before leaning in to reassure him with a hesitant kiss to the lips.

Looking at Kyungsoo, and remembering his first kiss, opens a floodgate of some kind to so many other memories of Sehun and summertime. How after that first night the movies were just excuses; how they still never slept but instead of complaining about school, they stretched out with eyes closed and mouths pressed together. How for the first time in two years autumn didn't feel like only the beginning of the painful wait for June. Jongin's tongue darts over his lips as he continues to stare at Kyungsoo.

He shouldn't, but he will.

Slowly, slowly, he lowers himself to the floor beside Kyungsoo, hardly breathing in case the brush of air wakes him. He hesitates, trying and failing one last time to talk himself out of it, before stealing the smallest of kisses from Kyungsoo's lips. They are soft, a little wet with drool he hadn't noticed, but so warm. When Kyungsoo doesn't even stir, Jongin gets a little reckless. He presses closer and crosses one of his ankles over Kyungsoo's, reaches a hand into Kyungsoo's dark hair to comb his fingers through it the way he's been wanting to since the first time he laid eyes on him. It's softer than it looks and Jongin never wants to let go.

Predictably, though, it is that touch that wakes Kyungsoo. Jongin gives a warm, bubbling sort of laugh as Kyungsoo blinks the bleariness away, but he leaves his hand where it is. The reality of it dawns on Kyungsoo slowly, but just when he is about to speak, Jongin pushes his mouth to Kyungsoo's again.

He is infinitely glad when Kyungsoo pauses for only one, still-sleepy moment before curling into him and kissing back.
